*This is a short-term 6-9 month assignment
Summary of Description:
Perform limited tasks and calculations necessary for engineering and design efforts supporting construction drawings and packages under the guidance of a supervising engineer.
Duties:
- Review vendor drawings / submittals for completeness and accuracy.
- Convey adequate instructions to enable the design staff to perform their task with quality work.
- Perform calculations for related discipline under the direction and supervision of an experienced engineer (Level Engineer II, III, IV, V, VI).
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in a related discipline from an accredited university with 0-2 years of experience in refinery, industrial, petrochemical or utility industries; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
- Co-Op or Summer Intern experience preferred.
License Requirements:
- Valid Driver’s License as per State law or requirement.
- Professional engineer in training (EIT) status preferred.
Specific Skills:
- Process simulation experience (i.e., Aspen / HYSYS, ProII or equivalent).
- Basic personal computer skills - spreadsheet knowledge and data base understanding required.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to climb, work at high elevations and work in confined spaces.
- Able to work day or night shifts.
- Able to work 10-to-12-hour shifts.
- Ability to walk up to one mile on industrial plant and construction sites outdoors at any time of the year.
- Ability to work in protective clothing which may elevate body temperatures by several degrees Fahrenheit for periods of up to 60 minutes without a break.
- Ability to use multi-level stair towers and rung ladders unassisted.
- Ability to hear safety alarms and signals while wearing hearing protection.
- Ability to sit at desk and operate computer for extended periods of time.
- Ability to stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear.
- Ability to see with visual acuity and distinguish between colors.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to lift and carry 15lbs. on a regular basis is required and at times lifting up to 50 lbs. may be required.
