POSITION SUMMARY

The Corporate Tire Manager is responsible for managing and supporting all aspects of the company's tire program to maximize tire life, reduce operating costs, ensure regulatory compliance, and improve fleet uptime. This position works closely with maintenance personnel, operations, vendors, and tire manufacturers to monitor tire performance, control expenses, and implement best practices across the fleet.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION

  • Manage the company's tire maintenance program for tractors, trailers, and support equipment.
  • Monitor tire performance using maintenance software and telematics data.
  • Analyze tire failures and identify trends to reduce roadside breakdowns and improve tire life.
  • Review tire-related invoices for accuracy and compliance with company standards.
  • Ensure proper tire specifications are utilized across the fleet.
  • Coordinate tire replacements, retreads, repairs, and casing management.
  • Manage relationships with tire vendors, manufacturers, and service providers.
  • Audit vendor performance, pricing, and warranty recovery opportunities.
  • Monitor tire inventory levels and recommend stocking requirements.
  • Conduct field audits to ensure proper tire maintenance practices are followed.
  • Ensure compliance with FMCSA/DOT regulations and company tire standards.
  • Develop reports and present tire program performance metrics to management.
Requirements

OTHER SIGNIFICANT JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE

  • Support roadside tire events by coordinating with vendors and internal personnel.
  • Assist in training maintenance technicians and operations personnel on tire inspections, inflation practices, and damage prevention.
  • Recommend process improvements to enhance tire life, reduce operating costs, and improve fleet reliability.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, operations, purchasing, and vendor partners to support company objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associate degree in Diesel Technology, Business, or related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of fleet maintenance or commercial tire management experience
  • Strong knowledge of commercial truck and trailer tire applications and maintenance practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and fleet maintenance software.
  • Ability to analyze tire performance data and identify trends.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage vendor relationships and review invoices for accuracy.
  • Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations related to commercial vehicle tires.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with fleet maintenance systems such as TMT, Trimble, Samsara, or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of telematics and tire performance monitoring technology.
  • Experience with tire warranty administration, casing management, and retread programs.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel reporting and data analysis skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel to company facilities and vendor locations as needed.
  • Ability to inspect commercial vehicles, including bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work in both office and shop environments.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Combination of office, maintenance shops, and outdoor work environments.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical equipment, noise, varying weather conditions, and commercial vehicle traffic during facility visits.
  • Occasional travel to company terminals, vendor locations, and field operations.

OTHER INFORMATION

  • This position may require occasional after-hours availability to support roadside tire events or urgent operational needs.
  • Valid driver's license may be required.
  • Position requires maintaining confidentiality of company information and exercising sound judgment in vendor management and operational decision-making.
