Bay State Community Services is seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated Per Diem Youth Advocates to join our Residential Services team. This is a great opportunity for individuals who are passionate about working with adolescents and want to gain meaningful experience in the human services field while maintaining a flexible work schedule.

As a Youth Advocate, you will help create a safe, supportive, and structured environment where youth can develop important life skills, build confidence, and work toward their individual goals.


What You Will Be Doing to Make a Difference... 

  • Provide direct supervision, support, and encouragement to youth in a residential setting.
  • Help maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment.
  • Assist youth with daily living skills, homework, coping skills, behavior management, and service plan goals.
  • Build positive and supportive relationships with youth.
  • Serve as a positive role model and promote healthy decision-making and independence.
  • Support youth during challenging situations using appropriate de-escalation and behavioral interventions.
  • Participate in activities that promote youth development and well-being.
  • Complete required documentation and communicate effectively with program staff.
  • Provide per diem/as-needed shift coverage based on program needs.
  • Safely transport youth when required; driving is an essential function of the position.
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required 
  • 1 year experience working with adolescents is preferred (not required)
  • Residential experience preferred
  • Experience with systems (e.g. DMH, DCF) preferred
  • Additional languages desirable, though not required
  • Able to learn, carry out and be certified in CPI physical interventions, and de-escalation techniques
  • Able to learn, carry out and be certified in CPR and first aid
