POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective production that meets quality and customer requirements. This role designs and optimizes tooling, fixtures, equipment, and workflows, and provides hands-on engineering support to production. The Manufacturing Engineer plays a critical role in new program launches, process validation, equipment installation, and continuous improvement initiatives across all TTD plants.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Develop, document, and improve manufacturing processes, routings, and work instructions for new and existing products
- Design, specify, and validate tooling, fixtures, gauges, and equipment to support production requirements
- Lead process improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing and structured problem-solving methods (e.g., 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone) to reduce scrap, rework, downtime, and cycle time
- Support new product launches, including APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, process flow diagrams, control plans, and run-at-rates
- Analyze process capability, cycle times, and throughput to identify and implement improvement opportunities
- Estimate cycle times, tooling requirements, and manufacturing costs to support quoting and capital planning
- Lead equipment selection, installation, commissioning, and qualification for new and replacement machinery
- Provide hands-on engineering support to resolve production, tooling, and equipment issues in real time
- Collaborate with Quality, Maintenance, Production, and Tool & Die to improve process stability and product quality
- Create and maintain engineering documentation, including BOMs, routings, drawings, and process specifications
- Support automation and robotics integration, including weld, assembly, and material-handling processes
- Ensure compliance with applicable quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949, customer-specific requirements)
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable regulations
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Ability to take direction, coaching, and act positively to improve performance.
- Assumes additional duties as assigned, which may fall outside the primary scope of the role.
ISO / ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (EMS) RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrate knowledge of the environmental processes and requirements applicable to their role.
- Employee is responsible for ensuring all environmental practices are in line with job scope / position. Examples include but are not limited to: proper waste disposal practices, reporting of spills, non-compliance to permit, and addressing any improper practices.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)
- 2–5 years of manufacturing or process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment (stamping, welding, and assembly preferred)
- Experience with lean manufacturing, process improvement, and root cause analysis / corrective action processes
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and specifications
- Experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, process flow, and control plans
- Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) preferred
GENERAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- Excellent communication skills for relaying information (verbally and in-writing) between other employees, direct reports, customers and vendors/suppliers
- Strong organizational skills and proven ability to maintain accurate, detailed records that will be audited periodically.
- Ability to work on multiple projects at once with tight deadlines.
- Must be a self-starter and have the desire and ability to take ownership and responsibility with little direction.

SOFTWARE/COMPUTER SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- General knowledge of and competence with the efficient use of basic hardware and software and uses of a variety of different computer operating systems such as Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, Google Workspace, and web-site software
- Working knowledge of CAD software and ERP/MRP systems preferred
- Has the ability to learn new software systems and data management systems quickly
- Proficient keyboarding and typing skills.
