Role Summary

The Senior Accountant is responsible for the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. They ensure controls are maintained and take a proactive approach to their work. Must be able to think critically in a fast-paced environment and identify and resolve discrepancies timely. The ideal candidate can understand operational workflows’ impact to the general ledger as well as financials. This role requires strong collaboration between cross functional teams to identify process improvements and support business growth and development. This role is for a professional looking to broaden their operational accounting acumen and progress into a more advanced leadership role. This position is onsite in Lombard, IL.


Key Responsibilities

  • Independently manage and oversee operational accounting activities across Treasury, Payroll, Fixed Assets, and other assigned subledger areas
  • Ensure operational subledgers reconcile accurately and completely each month to the General Ledger
  • Maintain strong ownership of operational accounting accuracy across assigned processes
  • Manage various Treasury operations, fixed assets, and procure to pay (P2P) functions
  • Generate monthly accruals and monitor prepaid balances 
  • Create monthly journal entries timely, accurately, and ensure all contain proper supporting documentation including bank reconciliations
  • Monitor and clear aged accounts payable, intercompany transactions, process refunds and transfers in both NetSuite and JP Morgan
  • Partner with operational stakeholders to investigate discrepancies and drive processes improvement
  • Safeguard company assets ensuring effective controls are in place to mitigate risk to the business
  • Support finance transformation and systems enhancements initiatives within Finance and Accounting 
  • Manage employee expense reporting system (Divvy) including reviewing and approving expenses, serving as card administrator and monitoring spending limits 
  • Develop and publish Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) 
  • Assist with management of Comdata carrier transactions and reporting
  • Provide annual audit support and help prepare annual 1099 filings
  • Assist in management of facility and vehicle lease accounting and payments
  • Respond to internal and external accounting inquiries
  • Assist in various Ad Hoc projects around cost savings initiatives
  • Support team through cross training and development 
  • Develop KPIs and analytic dashboards for management use

  

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field required; CPA is a plus.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience required.
  • Experience supporting month-end closing, balance sheet reconciliations, accounts payable, treasury, and operational accounting.

Technical Skills

  • NetSuite, QuickBooks experience preferred; ERP experience required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Experience with banking platforms and expense management software preferred.

Salary Description
$70,000-$90,000 per year
