Melt Supervisor
Description


JOB SUMMARY: The Melt Supervisor supervises and coordinates the activities of workers engaged in molten metal melting operations; in receiving, receiving inspection and scrap shipping; in charging and operating tapping furnaces; and ensuring that the metal specifications meet the requirements of the customer. 


DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Examines materials for conformance to customer quality specifications.
  • Supervisors' operation of melting furnaces and launder system.
  • Monitors temperatures of molten metal.
  • Observes furnaces, launder systems and crucibles for malfunction and orders adjustments or repairs or directs workers to make adjustments or repairs to ensure that the equipment will operate at maximum efficiency, within operating perimeters, safely and correctly.
  • Interprets specifications and job orders to workers and assign duties.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department or work crew.
  • Maintains flux records.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Trains operators and work crew on proper and safe operation of equipment.
  • Performs activities of worker’s supervisor.
  • Evaluates performance: appraising and providing appropriate feedback to employees.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • High school diploma or equivalent 5 years’ supervisor experience.
  • Must be able to  communicate effectively.
  • Must be team-oriented and have demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must be able to obtain a forklift license.
  • Must be able to work overtime either daily or weekend as well as on holidays and shutdowns.
