Shipping and Receiving Clerk
Description


 Primary Purpose:

Responsible for preparation of orders for prompt delivery to the customer. Manages outbound order processing and enters receipt of incoming shipments. Answers inquires regarding incoming and outbound orders and assists in customer service activities where required.  


Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Answer phones, assist customers with pick-up orders, assist sales & customer service with inquiries. 

Provides services for the prompt and accurate filling, packing, and shipping of customer orders.

Provides for the efficient receiving, marking, and stocking of merchandise; ensures the maintenance and protection of warehouse stocks, supplies, and equipment.

Ensures compliance with all labeling and shipping laws and regulations on merchandise shipped from warehouse.

Ensures that the storage areas and warehouse is kept clean and tidy, which includes identifying areas where processes could be improved, and work practices amended.

Researches and corrects problems and inventory issues.

Possibly takes lead responsibilities when supervisor or manager is not present.

Participate in cycle counts as directed.   

Correct and/or report any unsafe conditions or hazards immediately and work towards goal of “zero” injuries and incidents. 

Follow all safety procedures and use of PPE is mandatory.

Requirements

Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

Must be able to work under Company policies where experience and independent judgment are needed.

Should be familiar with the office workflow, operations of each department, particular products and their handling problems, and knowledge of all departments within the warehouse.

Must be able to work with others.

Ability to operate an industrial powered lift truck or forklift according to company procedures and governmental regulations.

Ability to use and maintain respiratory protection equipment.

Ability to learn proper methods for handling hazardous materials and wastes, with training.

Ability to navigate and maintain data in the companies ERP systems. 


Education/Training

High School Diploma, or GED with additional schooling or equivalent business experience.

Ability to read, write, count, understand and speak English.

Previous inventory management experience is considered an asset. 

Ability to use MS Office programs such as MS Excel.

Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions:

The physical ability to lift and carry at least 60 lbs for short distances.

The physical ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.

Salary Description
$48,000-52,000
