POSITION SUMMARY
The Quality Manager is responsible for evaluating and improving operational performance across multiple locations to ensure processes are executed safely, efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with company standards. This role serves as a hands-on operational partner to leadership teams, providing training, coaching, auditing, process improvement support, and temporary operational management coverage when needed.
The Quality Manager drives continuous improvement initiatives, supports new business implementations, monitors operational performance, and helps ensure consistency across the organization. This position requires extensive travel and regular on-site engagement with operations leaders, customers, and employees throughout the company's network.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION
- Conduct operational and quality audits to evaluate compliance with company standards, customer requirements, and established processes.
- Train, coach, and mentor operations personnel and leadership teams.
- Support operational consistency by identifying performance gaps and recommending corrective actions.
- Lead implementation of new technologies, systems, processes, and operational initiatives.
- Support new operation startups, including implementation planning, training, and project coordination.
- Monitor and review operational KPIs and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Facilitate action planning and follow-up activities resulting from audits and performance reviews.
- Assist with customer, driver, and employee satisfaction surveys and operational assessments.
- Work collaboratively with operations leadership to improve performance, service quality, and efficiency.
- Provide temporary operational management support during leadership vacancies, transitions, peak periods, or special projects.
- Create and maintain SOPs, training materials, and process documentation.
- Identify operational risks and communicate findings to leadership in a timely and professional manner.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across all operational locations.
- Maintain regular communication with field leadership regarding audit results, training opportunities, and operational performance trends.
- Demonstrate a consistently positive and professional demeanor, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment
- Handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity. Uphold confidentiality standards in all communications and decisions, ensuring trust and compliance with organizational policies and legal requirements
OTHER SIGNIFICANT JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE
- Onboard and train new operations leaders.
- Assist with developing and maintaining leadership development and training programs.
- Support implementation of customer requirements and operational best practices.
- Assist with project management activities for system implementations and process changes.
- Analyze operational trends and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate follow-up activities resulting from audits and site visits.
- Develop and maintain audit tools, scorecards, and reporting mechanisms.
- Participate in Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs) as needed.
- Support company growth initiatives through operational assessments and startup support.
- Travel extensively to company locations to provide operational support, auditing, coaching, and training.
- Maintaining regular and reliable attendance, along with being available in an on-call status
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Comply with company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or related field; equivalent work experience may be considered.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in transportation, warehouse, logistics, distribution, or operational leadership roles.
- Experience conducting operational audits and driving process improvement initiatives.
- Experience training, coaching, and mentoring employees and leaders.
- Strong understanding of warehouse and transportation operations.
- Experience managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Experience in multi-site transportation, warehousing, or logistics operations.
- Experience supporting operational startups or business implementations.
- Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement certification.
- Experience with KPI development, reporting, and analysis.
- Prior experience as an Operations Manager, Terminal Manager, Distribution Manager, or similar leadership role.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

- Frequent travel between company locations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Fast-paced transportation and logistics environment.
- Regular exposure to warehouse, dock, yard, and office settings.
- Significant interaction with operational leadership, drivers, customers, and employees.
- Travel required: Approximately 75% throughout the company's operational network. Travel may include overnight stays and extended periods away from home.
