Meridian Title is one of the nation's largest independent title agencies with over 80 years of experience in providing title insurance coverage, escrow closings, and real estate related services. We're always looking for energetic and self-motivated individuals to join our team of title and escrow experts. We currently have an opening for an Escrow Tech/Receptionist in our Columbus, Indiana office.
Our Escrow Tech/Receptionists serve as the first point of contact for visitors and callers, creating a positive initial impression of the organization. This role involves greeting guests, answering and directing phone calls, managing appointments, and handling incoming mail and deliveries. The Escrow Tech/Receptionist also performs the pre-closing process required for the financing or sale of residential property. Strong communication skills, a professional demeanor, and proficiency with office technology/systems are essential for success in this position.
Responsibilities and Duties Include:
- Opens and closes the office daily, ensures that the office and closing rooms are prepared for the arrival of customers (including after each closing throughout the day).
- Answers the phone and directs internal and/or external customers to the appropriate person or office that would best satisfy their needs.
- Acknowledges guests immediately in a friendly manner. Greets and screens visitors to determine the nature of their business and where to direct them.
- Where applicable, delivers checks to customers when they arrive, and collects appropriate identification from customers.
- Prepares error free daily escrow deposit, completes online deposit form.
- Reviews purchase agreement or contract for sale of real estate and instructions from escrow principals, verifies that they are correct and appropriate. Creates closing file and assists Sales Representatives, Realtors and lenders with questions and/or problems relating to the title commitment and closing procedure.
- Work to complete all tasks associated with title commitment in order to clear title, i.e. municipal letter, health and hospital, solid waste and storm water letter, order payoffs, homeowner’s association letter, etc. within required timeframe as dictated by scheduled closing date.
- Reviews title commitment to verify vesting and legal description for accuracy, including spelling of names. Verifies that commitment matches information given us by customers, purchase agreement and survey. Also verifies taxes.
- Consults with examiner, lender and/or principals in reconciling discrepancies between instructions and title commitment.
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries on pre-closing issues, providing complete answers and solutions, in a professional, friendly manner.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance as an essential function of the position, ensuring consistent coverage of reception duties during scheduled business hours
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of receptionist experience preferred.
- Prior experience in the real estate and/or title industry strongly preferred.
