Service Manager

Full-time
Description

About the Role

Johnson RV is looking for an experienced Service Manager to lead our service department and deliver a top-tier repair and maintenance experience for our customers. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced shop environment, knows how to run efficient operations, and is comfortable using modern software systems to manage workflow, scheduling, parts, warranty claims, and customer communication. If you have strong computer skills and a proven track record managing a shop or service team, we want to hear from you — RV industry experience is a big plus, but we're open to the right candidate from any relevant background.

What You'll Do

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the service department, including scheduling, workflow, and technician assignments.

• Manage, coach, and develop a team of technicians and service advisors, holding the department to high standards for quality and productivity.

• Use dealership management software (DMS), scheduling tools, and other digital systems to track repair orders, parts, labor, and warranty claims from start to finish.

• Monitor department KPIs — labor efficiency, cycle time, customer satisfaction, and shop profitability — and take action to hit targets.

• Serve as the primary point of contact for customers with service concerns, ensuring clear communication and timely resolution.

• Manage manufacturer warranty submissions, approvals, and documentation.

• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized shop that meets manufacturer and OSHA standards.

• Partner with the parts department and other managers to keep jobs moving and minimize delays.

• Hire, train, and evaluate service staff, and manage performance issues as they arise.

• Control department costs, including labor, supplies, tools, and outside vendor work.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience managing a team in a shop, service center, or similar hands-on operational environment.

• Very strong computer skills — comfortable learning and working daily in DMS platforms, scheduling software, spreadsheets, and email/communication tools.

• Strong leadership and people-management skills, with the ability to coach technicians and hold a team accountable.

• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple jobs, deadlines, and priorities at once.

• Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate clearly with customers, staff, and manufacturers.

• A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical or business training is a plus.

Preferred (Not Required)

• Experience in the RV industry — as a service manager, service advisor, or technician.

• Familiarity with RV-specific systems (chassis, appliances, slide-outs, electrical, plumbing) or general automotive/marine/powersports service experience.

• Experience with manufacturer warranty portals and processes.

We know great managers come from all kinds of backgrounds. If you don't have RV experience but have the management chops and technical/computer aptitude this role calls for, we encourage you to apply.

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay range: $120,000–$200,000 per year, based on experience and performance.

• Health, dental, and vision insurance.

• Paid time off and holidays.

• Retirement plan options.

• Employee discounts on parts, service, and RV purchases.

• A supportive, team-oriented culture with real opportunity for growth.

How to Apply

To apply, submit your resume and a brief note about your management experience and computer/software skills. We look forward to hearing from you.
