DMS Clinical Coordinator Description
South College Asheville is seeking candidates for a clinical coordinator for the DMS - Abdomen & OBGYN program. The Clinical Coordinator, in conjunction with the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program Director, is responsible for integrating all clinical education with didactic education. The Clinical Coordinator will serve as a full-time faculty member with teaching and administrative responsibilities within the department.
Responsibilities will include:
- Coordinate, evaluate, and supervise the program’s clinical component.
- Act as a liaison between the clinical agencies and the college maintaining open lines of communication with the Program Director.
- Provide student counseling and advising, as required.
- Maintain all student clinical records including calculation of quarterly grades.
- Maintain and encourage valid evaluation of each student by clinical instructor, department managers, staff sonographers, and students.
- Develop clinical rotational assignments, lesson plans, and schedules.
- Evaluate student performance during clinical visits.
- Review and revise performance objectives to assure valid clinical learning experiences.
- Review the Clinical Manual and additional Policy Handbooks annually and make recommendations to Program Director.
- Initiate clinical instructor evaluation by students each quarter.
- Coordinate clinical and didactic courses within the program as assigned
Education:
- A minimum of a Baccalaureate degree is required. Applicant must possess an Associate or Baccalaureate in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
Credentials:
- Applicants must possess appropriate credential(s) specific to one or more of the concentration(s) offered
- Must possess ARDMS credentials in Abdomen and Obstetrics & Gynecology
- RVT credential preferred
Experience:
- Must have a minimum of two years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer
- Must have documented experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance, and in educational theories and techniques
