Position Summary
The case manager serves as a staff member at will of Domestic Violence Intervention Services (DVIS). The case manager/outreach advocate assists clients in obtaining needed services, education, and financial assistance in the community. Outreach to inform the community about services in Creek County will include libraries, health care providers, other non-profits, Dept. of Human Services, etc.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Priority 1: Equity and Inclusion
- Reflect and understand how identities could give advantages in the workplace—even if they are not asked for or earned—while others might experience disadvantages. Reflect on how our position and power may shift depending on the environment, the people, or the institutions at play. Build the awareness and compassion that is needed and expected to create an equitable and inclusive workplace.
- Create an inclusive environment and behave in a way that ensures that clients and employees feel embraced, no matter what their cultural orientations are, respected and valued, engaged and connected to the community, and safe from abuse and harassment.
Priority 2: Advocacy
- Provide crisis intervention services for phone-in and walk-in clients.
- Perform intakes and needs assessments and make referrals to other community resources.
- Provide supportive services to survivors, including safety planning, introducing DVIS services, and connecting clients in eminent danger to the Shelter.
- Create service plans for clients.
- Act as an advocate for clients with external agencies. Includes accompanying clients to court and/or to appointments with law enforcement or prosecutors.
Priority 3: Case Management
- Safety planning with all survivors.
- Responsible for case management services for immediate survivor needs that include referrals for education, education assistance, job training, and other public assistance.
- Assist survivors in locating and securing housing.
- Provide/arrange for education to include interpersonal violence, financial literacy that includes checkbook management, budgeting and money management, and other skills for daily living.
- Advocate for survivors within the civil and criminal justice system as well as the health care system.
- Provide referrals to DVIS programs including legal assistance, protective order assistance and advocacy, counseling services, childcare, group counseling and support groups, and children’s counseling.
- Responsible for conducting follow-up.
Priority 4: Community Resources, Response, Coordination and Outreach
- Identify community resources to meet each individual’s needs by providing referrals to partner organizations.
- Assist with coordinating a community response to interpersonal violence.
- Conduct community outreach and build strong community relationships. Distribute information and make presentations about DVIS services to a wide variety of entities in the community.
- Maintain a comprehensive directory of local services to include housing, financial assistance, educational assistance, job training, job placement services and child care resources.
Priority 5: Statistical and grant reporting
- Responsible for keeping statistics and providing reports as requested.
Other Duties/Responsibilities: Other assistance to support the overall goals of the department and organization. DVIS retains the right to add or change duties and/or responsibilities at any time.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Budgetary/Fiscal Responsibilities: Acts as a good steward of DVIS’s resources.
Responsibility for Confidentiality: The nature of this work requires safeguarding against the release of confidential and proprietary information of DVIS and its clients.
Contact with Others: This position will interact at all levels and with staff members across the organization, in addition to members of external organizations and the public.
Documentation: Maintains up-to-date and accurate files for each client according to agency guidelines and current professional standards.
Meetings and Training: Attend meetings and training as requested by supervisor.
Education: Bachelor’s in Social Work, Gerontology, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or related degree preferred, or equivalent work experience with victims of crime and the following job-related experience.
Experience: Requires a minimum of one years’ experience in working with individuals and groups in a social service or mental health environment; experience working with a nonprofit is preferred, or any equivalent combination of experience, lived experience, and/or special skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proven computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, is necessary.
Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
Knowledge of or experience working with social justice issues, specifically intimate partner and gender-based domestic and sexual violence, and racial, class, gender, sexual orientation issues, and intervention/prevention services strongly preferred. Requires dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion, excellent organizational skills, written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize work and tasks. Requires adaptability to produce and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, multi-task, and changing environment, with frequent pressure related to meeting deadlines and scheduling requirements. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Diplomacy in confronting personal, individual, and internal discrimination requiring sharing and discussing personal identities relative to the work environment is strongly preferred.
Schedule Availability: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Some after-hours work may be required to meet the needs of survivors.
Licenses/Certifications: Valid Oklahoma driver’s license; current CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
