Description
The Food Safety & Quality Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily food safety & quality activities for an assigned shift and processing facility. This role ensures that products meet Pete & Gerry's food safety & quality specifications, customer requirements, and applicable food safety regulations. The supervisor leads quality and food safety initiatives on their shift, assists in routine facility inspections, investigates quality issues, and drives continuous improvement to maintain product integrity and consumer safety.
- Supervise daily food safety and quality assurance activities.
- Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, HACCP, SQF, GMP, Organic, Humane, and other applicable regulatory and customer requirements.
- Monitor and verify food safety programs, including HACCP plans, sanitation practices, allergen controls, food fraud controls, and environmental monitoring
- Monitor Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and other SQF programs through SQF internal auditing program and ensure overall quality expectations and guidelines are met.
- Train and develop employees on food safety, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with Operations, Sanitation, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams to ensure consistent product quality and food safety compliance.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and risk reduction
- Investigate product quality concerns, customer complaints, and non-conformances; implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with USDA representatives, auditors, suppliers, and other management members.
- Acts as data administrator to enter and review quality data and key performance indicators to identify improvement opportunities.
- Supervises QA and QC technicians on shift.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- 3 years food industry preferred
- At least 1 year supervisory or team leadership experience
- SQF Practitioner or ability to become certified.
- Attention to detail and uncompromising concern for quality and food safety.
- Proven audit management skills.
- Bilingual, English & Spanish strongly preferred
- Requires use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and scanner/copier
- Must be able to work as a team and achieve company goals
- Must be able to provide clear and concise communication
- HACCP and SQF certifications strongly preferred.
