The library is seeking candidates for a full-time Networking Technician position. The chosen candidate will help maintain technology in public library system with five locations. This technician will also be responsible for the documentation of circulating technology, and will provide support for staff and customers of the library.
The networking technician will assist in managing the libraries’ network, including servers and switches. The chosen candidate will successfully create and maintain documentation for IT equipment that staff and customers use daily as well as circulating items including, but not limited to, hotspots, eReaders, and tablets. This person will also help maintain computer equipment and all other hardware assigned to the IT department. The networking technician will also assist with grant writing efforts and special projects.
Effective collaboration with others on the library staff is a key part of this position. The networking technician will create educational programs and/or trainings that will be beneficial to the library’s staff and customers. The chosen candidate will provide excellent customer service to the library’s customers and to staff in all departments.
Associate degree in technology or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Experience working as a computer technician and/or network technician using Windows OS, both server and client. Experience with documentation for troubleshooting and instruction. Experience with building or imaging computers and deploying computers. Experience with troubleshooting computers and peripherals.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge and experience with networks and network shares. Active Directory and Group Policy experience is necessary. Creating and maintaining documentation for the purpose of instructing, troubleshooting, and maintaining is also important. Able to work independently and efficiently using a ticketing system to keep track of work/status of computer issues. Ability to interact productively with members of the library team in problem solving, workflow analysis, and decision making. Can resolve issues in an environment supportive of change. Ability to work days, evenings, and weekends as required. Must be able to create easy to follow written documentation, and provide verbal explanations of technology equipment and processes to staff and customers.
