With locations across the Southeast—including Tampa—we’re growing our team and looking for a Lead AV Technician who takes pride in their craft, understands what “finished right” looks like, and is ready to take ownership of projects from the first cable pull to final client handoff.
This is an opportunity for an experienced technician who wants more responsibility, greater technical challenges, and the opportunity to lead installations while helping elevate the work of the entire team.
The Opportunity
As a Lead AV Technician, you will be responsible for leading and executing the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and commissioning of sophisticated residential and commercial technology systems.
You’ll work on projects that can include dedicated home theaters, whole-home audio/video, distributed video, networking, security, automation, motorized shades, equipment racks, and integrated control systems.
You’ll be expected to work independently, lead technicians on-site when needed, communicate effectively with project managers and other trades, maintain high installation standards, and ensure every system is installed cleanly, reliably, and with exceptional attention to detail.
What You’ll Do
Lead Installation & Project Execution
- Lead AV installations from rough-in through trim, commissioning, and client handoff.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, wiring diagrams, elevations, and project documentation.
- Plan cable paths, equipment locations, speaker locations, rack layouts, and device placement.
- Perform and oversee low-voltage pre-wire, cable pulls, terminations, labeling, testing, and certification.
- Install and configure TVs, projectors, projection screens, speakers, amplifiers, receivers, displays, networking equipment, and AV racks.
- Perform retrofit installations while working carefully within finished homes and commercial spaces.
- Coordinate on-site activities with project managers, builders, electricians, and other trades.
- Identify installation challenges early and develop practical solutions in the field.
Programming, Configuration & Troubleshooting
- Configure, test, and troubleshoot sophisticated AV and control systems.
- Understand audio/video signal flow and quickly diagnose system issues.
- Configure networking equipment and troubleshoot connectivity and communication problems.
- Program or assist with programming control systems and automation platforms.
- Commission systems to ensure they perform as designed before client handoff.
- Document system changes, equipment configurations, and field conditions.
Quality & Customer Experience
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship, organization, cleanliness, and attention to detail.
- Protect client homes, furnishings, finishes, and equipment throughout every installation.
- Communicate professionally with clients when working in their homes or businesses.
- Walk clients through system operation when required.
- Represent Innovative Sight & Sound professionally at every job site.
Leadership
- Serve as the technical leader on assigned projects.
- Help train and mentor junior technicians.
- Delegate installation tasks when appropriate and verify completed work.
- Set the example for safety, craftsmanship, organization, and customer service.
- Take ownership of problems rather than simply identifying them.
What We’re Looking ForWe’re looking for a technician who combines strong technical ability with leadership, accountability, and pride in their work.Required
- 3+ years of professional low-voltage / AV installation experience, preferably in high-end residential or commercial integration.
- Demonstrated experience taking projects from pre-wire through final installation and commissioning.
- Strong understanding of AV systems, signal flow, and troubleshooting.
- Experience installing and terminating low-voltage cabling to industry standards.
- Ability to read plans, elevations, wiring diagrams, and project documentation.
- Hands-on experience installing TVs, projectors, screens, speakers, displays, racks, and AV equipment.
- Ability to work safely from ladders, scaffolding, and scissor lifts.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while also leading and collaborating with a team.
- Professional communication and a customer-first mindset.
- Clean driving record and ability to pass a background check.
- Reliable transportation and basic hand tools appropriate for low-voltage installation.

Compensation & Benefits$32–$40+ per hour, commensurate with experience and technical capabilities.Benefits include:
