Heavy-Duty Truck Mechanic

Reuther Material is an industry-leading company specializing in building materials. We are experiencing significant growth and are looking for full-time, skillful Heavy-duty Truck Mechanic to join our dynamic team in our Succasunna, NJ location. In this position, you will collaborate with other repair team members to ensure a vehicle is safely and efficiently operating to the driver’s needs.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

* Running diagnostic tests on diesel engines and interpreting the results to offer suitable solutions and perform the repair.

* Inspecting vehicle systems, including suspensions, steering and exhausts.

* Repairing or replacing vehicle transmissions, brakes, engines and other associated parts.

* Conducting field visits in the case of an emergency or sudden breakdown.

* Test driving repaired vehicles to gauge their performance.

* Completing oil changes, wheel balancing, alignment and brake checks.

* Maintaining records of parts inventory and serviced vehicles.

* Performs repairs (including electrical and hydraulic systems) and assigned preventive maintenance services.

* Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.

* Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.

* Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing
     vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.

* Reviews and completes repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.

* Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.

* Maintaining a clean, hazard-free work environment in compliance with Reuther and OSHA standards.

Requirements

* Attention to detail and familiarity with diesel trucks.

* Excellent physical condition and coordination (including the ability to reach above your head, bend, stand, climb, push, pull, twist, squat, kneel, lift and/or move up to 25 pounds as relevant to the job).

* Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends, during periods of high demand.

* Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather (inclement and otherwise).

* Frequently exposed to moving mechanical machinery and parts, fumes and airborne particles.

* Regularly loud noise level.

* High school diploma.

* Must be at least 18 years of age.

* Must have valid I-9 credentials (i.e. valid passport, drivers license, state-issued id, social security card, etc..).
