Description
HVAC Service Technician
Job Summary:
The HVAC Service Technician will repair, and maintain heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. You will diagnose problems, explain these to customers in clear, non-technical terms, relay costs to customers, and offer alternative solutions.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs routine maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure they operate properly.
- Inspects and troubleshoots problems with existing HVAC units.
- Installs replacement parts on existing HVAC units.
- Maintains inventory of replacement parts and orders replacements.
- Complies with company and industry safety standards.
- Cleans, adjusts and repairs systems, and performs warranty services.
- Keeps records and logs of maintenance functions.
- Maintains a clean and organized service truck, and ensures it is up to date with inspections and maintenance.
- Ensures compliance with appliance standards and with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Takes thorough and clear notes of all findings while troubleshooting, repairing or maintaining HVAC equipment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Extensive knowledge of HVAC systems and equipment.
- Ability to use power and hand tools.
- Ability to use thermometers, pressure gauges, and other testing devices to evaluate HVAC system.
- Ability to read operation and repair manuals for HVAC systems.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Excellent mechanical skills.
- Excellent communication skills, as required to interact with customer.
- Valid driver’s license.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3-5 years of related experience preferred.
- EPA Certification
Physical Requirements:
- Physically able to work on HVAC units.
- Will be required to work in settings with extreme cold or extreme heat, depending on time of year.
- Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, crawling, or climbing ladders.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
- Ability to work in small, tight spaces for extended period of time.
Salary Description
$40-$65
