Machinist
Description

Power Mechanical, Inc. is seeking a hardworking, career-oriented person of good character to fill a Machinist position within our organization. 


Reports To: Lead Machinist


The Machinist is responsible for, but not limited to, the following machining and mechanical tasks:

  • Trouble shooting, diagnosing, repairing, and testing machinery with minimal supervision
  • Operating conventional machinery, such as: Mill, Lathe, Saw, and Grinders
  • Making replacement parts and small production runs
  • Ability to measure using various instruments
  • Drill and tap holes
  • Machine parts by instruction of sketches and blueprints
  • Ability to repair existing parts
  • Make fixtures for production parts 
  • Create the desired surface finish on parts
  • Replacing bearings and bushings
  • Setting rotor clearances
  • Testing and repairing pressure controls
  • Rebuilding electric motors up to 100 horsepower
  • Tool repair
  • Making reliable modifications to improve machinery
  • Rebuilding and testing air compressors and valves
  • Repairing control devices and select pumps

This position requires:

  • A high school diploma or an equivalent but post-secondary training or certification is preferred
  • Basic math skills and be proficient in geometry and algebra 
  • Excellent customer service and effective communication skills
  • Regular prolonged standing 
  • Regular lifting of 50 lbs. 
  • Regular bending, kneeling, stooping
  • Regular twisting/turning
  • Regular reaching and working overhead
  • Frequent pushing/pulling 50 lbs. 
  • Occasional work in high noise situations
  • Occasional work at elevations over 4 feet

Candidate should be willing and able to learn, be dependable, and have a good work ethic. This position is fulltime and requires overtime. A candidate with non-essential abilities, such as welding certifications, or who has a mechanical or electrical background is preferred.
