Job Purpose
To design, oversee, and coordinate all aspects of a variety of engineering projects, including financial administration, budgeting, and planning; Performs a variety of professional and technical tasks in support of an assigned area of responsibility.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Prepares drawings, specifications, cost estimates, project schedules, and other work for accuracy, presentation, and conformance with established construction/engineering practices and applicable codes and standards.
· Provides technical and professional guidance to staff, work crews, consultants, and others related to code interpretation, material standards, design and engineering drawings, specifications, plan interpretations, installation procedures, and construction methods.
· Performs a variety of project activities including, but not limited to, preparation and review of construction contracts; conduct pre-construction conferences; approval of time schedules; review and approve pay requests; evaluate and approve change orders; solve construction problems; perform final inspection and project close out duties.
· Travel to work sites of assigned engineering projects; note work progress and possible problem areas; report findings to supervisory staff as necessary; resolve project problems by reviewing and commenting on proposed modifications of design, construction change orders, and related methods.
· Attend and serve as staff/representative for pre-design, pre-bid, and pre-construction meetings related to assigned projects.
· Strictly adheres to the office standards, policies, and project schedules. Informs, in a timely manner, the department head regarding any conflicts/issues that relate to his/her work.

Professional Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited college or university or documented equivalent combination of education and professional experience in a related engineering field.
· Possession of a registration as an Engineer Intern (EI) preferred.
· Possession of a valid State of Florida Driver's License and reliable transportation required.
Minimum Experience
· 2-5 years of post-degree work experience, which must have involved construction, design, inspection or estimating.
· 1+ year of forensic engineering is preferred.
