Caregiver - Residential Memory Care Setting

Description

The Caregiver will provide care to residents and perform basic ADL's activities under the direction of an LVN.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assists residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transferring and getting to and from activities and meals according to the individual service plan.
  • Maintain a clean and safe resident environment.
  • Recognize abnormal changes in body functioning and the importance of reporting such changes to a supervisor.
  • Perform post-mortem care as needed.
  • Perform routine care rounds on each assigned resident, at minimum, every two hours (or more frequently if indicated).
  • Follows proper procedures and respond promptly and positively to resident requests for assistance.
  • Knows the location of each resident and notifies the supervisor immediately if unable to locate a resident.
  • Follows proper procedure for clocking in and out for shifts.
  • Follows guidelines for uniforms and wear daily.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Skills & Abilities: 

  • Excellent judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Able to communicate in English, talk and hear effectively to convey instructions and information to residents and team members.
  • Excellent interpersonal and clinet service skills.

Education & Experience: 

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and 1-2 years’ experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Desire experience in a similar setting helpful.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand often, walk 75% of the day; sit; use hands to feel, handle, or manipulate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear, pushing, pulling or grasping. The employee must occasionally lift persons or move supplies, up to 50 pounds.
  • Subject to minor exposure to common dust, disinfectants and cleaning chemicals and may be provided protection (PPE) and exposed to infectious waste, common illnesses, and other conditions.
  • Must Clear Criminal Background Check
