Organizational Overview:

Convention of States Action is a 501(c)(4) grassroots nonprofit organization committed to restoring America by living out our mission of building a grassroots army of self-governing activists (www.conventionofstates.com). In doing so, we strive to call a Convention of States under Article V of the U.S. Constitution to propose amendments to limit federal power.


Position Overview:

Convention of States is looking for a remote, volunteer Media Liaison to join our National Team. As a Media Liaison, you will play a vital role in shaping our media presence and increasing visibility for Convention of States. This part-time position (15-20 hours per week) offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to our mission, enhance your media and communications skills, and be part of a passionate communications team.


Responsibilities:

  • Network Building: Establish and maintain relationships with key media contacts, influencers, and bloggers.
  • Act as the dedicated liaison for Community Newsmaker, ensuring the formalization of grassroots input into pitches for story coverage.
  • Feedback Integration: Gather and incorporate feedback from media outlets and journalists to improve our communication efforts.
  • Place Op-Eds: Place opinion pieces (op-eds) in relevant media outlets to advocate for our cause and share our perspectives.
  • COS in the News: Monitor news and current events, identify opportunities for coverage related to Convention of States, and coordinate with media outlets to feature our organization.
  • Media Booking: Arrange and manage media appearances and interviews for Mark Meckler and other headliners. 
  • Organize Training and Calls: Coordinate communications training sessions for grassroots and organize regular calls to discuss media strategy.
  • Media Outreach Calendar: Create and maintain a media outreach calendar that outlines key dates, events, and opportunities for media engagement.




Requirements
  • Experience in media relations, preferably in a nonprofit or grassroots context, preferred not required.
  • Knowledge of media relations, including op-ed placement and press outreach.
  • Familiarity with media databases and contact management.
  • Understanding of basic search engine optimization principles to enhance the discoverability of our content.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
