Main Purpose:
The project planner reports to the project controls manager. The project planner is responsible for developing the detailed project baseline schedule from the contract scope, for ensuring data integrity for the life of the project, and for preparing reports to support Gulf Island Services and Client requirements. The main tasks of the project planner are the following.
Essential Functions:
- Develop the Contract Master Schedule and identify key project milestones from kickoff to project completion.
- Submit the contract master schedule to the project manager for review. Secure approval of the master schedule and issue the contract master schedule.
- Develop planning controls at Levels 1, 2, 3, and 4, as applicable, to include engineering, procurement, fabrication, and commissioning.
- Review the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) with the project manager until agreement is achieved.
- In collaboration with the engineering group, integrate the engineering schedule with fabrication, offshore installation, and subcontract cleaning schedules, considering priorities for work packages and early construction.
- In collaboration with the engineering group, ensure that the engineering schedule is compatible with procurement, fabrication, and delivery requirements.
- In collaboration with the engineering group develop a detailed deliverables schedule based on the engineering schedule. Participation of the engineering group will assure their awareness of the schedule.
- In collaboration with the distribute man-hours for the project management team (PMT) over the duration of the project, using the approved man-hour budget.
- Verify that the man-hours spent on discipline activities are booked against the correct activity codes for accurate reporting and project control.
- Monitor and record progress and the man-hours spent on each activity. Prepare trend reports as requested by the PMT.
- Review fabrication and Client vendor status schedules for compliance with the contract master schedule.
- Maybe tasked at times to participate in the development of bid schedules.
