Description

Knight Material Technologies is currently seeking a full-time, traveling mason to work at various customer locations.  The mason will specialize in working with materials and techniques specifically designed for corrosive and acidic processes. Responsibilities include the inspection, installation, and repair of acid-resistant linings in various chemical processing environments. 


Acid Resistant Mason

Reports to: Mason Foreman

Non - Exempt Position


Responsibilities:

  • Proficiently work with acid-resistant materials such as acid-resistant bricks, tiles, mortars, coatings, and linings.
  • Construct acid-resistant structures, including acid-proof flooring, walls, tanks, and vessels, following engineering specifications and blueprints.
  • Perform routine repair and maintenance on acid-resistant brick linings to ensure durability and functionality over time.
  • Adhere to safety standards and protocols while working with hazardous materials and chemicals, implementing proper handling and disposal procedures.
  • Conduct inspections to verify the integrity and effectiveness of acid-resistant installations and repairs.
  • Coordinate with field supervision, mason foremen and project managers to ensure alignment with project requirements and timelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of materials used, work performed, and any inspections or testing conducted.
Requirements


  • In-depth understanding of acid-resistant materials, their properties, and their appropriate applications.
  • Proficient in masonry techniques and construction methods, with a focus on acid-resistant installations.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and protocols when working with hazardous materials and chemicals.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug/Alcohol testing.
  • Detail-Oriented: Ability to work with precision and attention to detail in constructing and maintaining acid-resistant structures.
  • Problem-Solving: Capacity to troubleshoot and solve issues related to acid-resistant materials and structures.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members, project managers, and other stakeholders.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Must be a journeyman mason through the International Union of Brick and Allied Craftworkers.
  • Previous experience working in a similar role within industrial, chemical, or manufacturing environments is highly advantageous.
  • Experience following safety guidelines and regulations pertaining to the handling of acidic substances and masonry work.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift heavy materials and work in physically demanding conditions.
  • Tolerance to work in environments with chemical fumes and dust.
