POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direct supervision of the Custodial Supervisor, the Housekeeping/Custodial Staff members will maintain a safe, professional, respectful, and positive atmosphere for our members and guests. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Must be able to work evenings with a schedule of 4 pm- 10 pm.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Cleans and sanitizes assigned areas, including mopping, dusting, and trash removal. 
  2. Other duties may include but are not limited to window washing, meeting setup, pool cleaning, snow removal, groundskeeping, and other maintenance and custodial responsibilities. 
  3. Records and reports all needed repairs and may need to perform repairs as directed.
  4. Ensures YMCA buildings and properties are secure during shifts and reports incidents and hazardous conditions to the supervisor.
  5. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs and pass a pre-employment physical
  6. All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Six months or more related experience is preferred.
  2. Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
  3. Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals as well as their safe and efficient uses.
  4. CPR/First Aid certification or obtain within 30 days of hire. 
  5. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of the community and social and economic segments of the community.
  6. Excellent judgment and decision-making skills
  7. Must be able to work evenings and weekends with a schedule of 4 pm- 10 pm

? Work will be performed indoors and outdoors and may require occasional travel

? Must have visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to respond swiftly in an emergency situation.

? Ability to erect and stand on ladders and platforms at heights up to 30ft

? Ability to work with paint, cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms

? Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform position functions 

? Must be able to coordinate a variety of large and small tasks simultaneously 

? Must be able to handle stress and tension in a positive manner

? Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust

? Ability to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment, which may involve, but is not limited to, the following activities: semi-reaching to full-reach overhead, crouching, kneeling, shoveling, carrying, working in narrow and/or confining spaces that may be underground, overhead or at ground level. Twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs and lying on the stomach and/or back.

 

Schedule

This hourly position has a schedule from 4 pm through 10 pm.
