Accounting Manager

KongBasileConsulting (KBC) is a finance and accounting firm focusing on servicing VC backed technology start-ups. While our team and clients are primarily based in the San Francisco Bay Area; we also service clients in Southern California, New York, Seattle, and Austin.

To serve this mission, we are seeking motivated and knowledgeable finance & accounting professionals, who can provide our clients with the financial information they need to make key decisions for their company’s success.

Working both remotely and from client sites, this position will report to a Senior Accounting Manager. The ideal candidate will have meaningful experience in accounting, finance and/or consulting, and have the knowledge and capabilities to build a strong accounting function and team.


Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain a deep understanding of the client’s business and accounting operations
  • Play an integral role in establishing and leading the monthly financial close process by allocating team resources appropriately, reviewing account reconciliations and analyzing data and journal entries
  • Review the financial close package which (can) include financial statements, budget vs. actual analysis, forecast, and reporting for the Board of Directors
  • Advise and apply complex accounting topics such as revenue recognition, sales tax, consolidation, and international operations
  • Assist the client with financial planning & analysis by preparing forecasting and other appropriate financial models
  • Lead monthly close meetings with the client and/or participate in Board of Directors’ meetings
  • Lead the accounting team to support the day-to-day finance & accounting operations of the client
  • Ensure the client’s operations scale by identifying, advising, and leading automation, process enhancement and system implementation initiatives
  • Manage relationships with clients and their investors, banks, tax accountants, and external auditors
  • Ensure the client is compliant with regulating and taxing authorities
  • Support the client and other team members with various analyses and ad hoc projects
  • Own client engagement economics by allocating resources appropriately and identifying areas to improve efficiency
  • Train and supervise Seniors and Staff to meet KBC’s quality standards and client expectations
Requirements

  • 5-8 years of experience across Big 4 audit and corporate accounting environments
  • Bachelor's degree with emphasis in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA license preferred
  • Strong Excel skills and adaptability to new technology and tools
  • Technical knowledge of GAAP / IFRS / SEC accounting and reporting requirements
  • Meaningful experience participating in month-end closing activities
  • Knowledge of and experience with financial planning & analysis
  • Knowledge of and experience with start-up accounting tools and systems (Quickbooks, Xero, NetSuite, Expensify, Bill.com, Gusto, etc.)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and reconciliation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent project management and client service skills
  • Confidence and curiosity to take on new learning experiences
  • Ability and desire to work independently and remotely while being a supportive team member
  • Ability to manage, scale and motivate multiple accounting teams and members
  • Inherently a self-starter, taking on new initiatives without being asked to do so
  • General interest and curiosity to improve processes and procedures when inefficiencies are identified
  • Enthusiasm and ability to physically support KBC teams, clients, and events in local markets (when COVID permits)

Salary Description
starting rate: $87.50 per hour
