SUMMARY
St. Joseph Catholic School is hiring a part time or full time resource teacher (K-8). The Resource Teacher is a qualified professional in education who meets the requirements to teach in a Catholic school in the Diocese of Orlando. The teacher, being creative and resourceful, utilizes instructional materials which are suitable, and provides a variety of meaningful, engaging learning experiences learning experiences which are academically sound.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Title One Coordinator
· Standardized Testing Coordinator
· Coordinate tutor volunteers
· Coordinate public school consulting, service plan meetings and speech and language services
· Consult with classroom teachers regarding strategies for special needs and gifted students
· Interview, test and screen prospective students
· Identify and monitor the progress of students who have been identified as having special needs
· Develop programs, individual schedules, and strategies for special needs students
· Parallel teach as needed
· Push-in-support for students in the class-volunteers/private vendors
· Coordinate classroom aide schedules for students on modified curriculum
· Pull out-small group instruction, or individualized curriculum
· Monitor curriculum, progress, grades, and behavior plans for students with shadow assistants
· Make referrals to school counselor, assist in scheduling and implementing recommendations
· Provide staff development and teacher resources for teachers
· Provide parent resources
· Coordinate, Supervise, and/or Implement Enrichment programs for the Intermediate/Middle School Enrichment 4-8 and Elementary Enrichment program (1-3)
ACADEMIC/SUPERVISORY DUTIES
Teachers are academically qualified and prepared for each day’s lessons. They are accountable to the principal, the parents, and the students in the following ways for example but not limited to:
· Lesson planning and class preparedness
· Evaluation of student performance
· Parent conferences
· End of year records

CERTIFICATION
Must maintain current Faith Fit requirements.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Hold a Bachelor’s Degree with Certification in Exceptional Student Education (or obtain certification within 1 year of hiring) and a minimum of three years successful experience in an educational setting.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Caring for children can be physically demanding. The Resource Teacher may be required to lift and/or carry children or equipment (up to 40 lbs.) and may spend time sitting on the floor or child sized furniture. Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time, walking, bending, stooping/squatting, and reaching. May come in contact with children who are ill and/or contagious and must take precautions to ensure the health and safety of all children, parents, staff, and themselves.
