Location: Seattle, WA.


Responsibilities:

  • As an active member of the Management Team, you will direct the estimating and pre-construction process for projects in the United States.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor the full life cycle of the estimating process including labor, material, and equipment rates, estimate setup, estimate archiving, and current productivity rates, among others.
  • Responsible for all aspects of estimating and overall process for projects including pre-estimate meetings, site visits, kick-off meetings, and estimate archiving.
  • Conduct a detailed analysis of the contract documents and specifications, to determine overall project requirements and identify any associated risks.
  • Complete a full quantity take-off of all labor, equipment, and materials required to complete the project as per contract drawing and specifications.
  • Works autonomously and provides leadership, coaching, and mentoring to maximize efficiency and productivity of estimators.
  • Ensure project and Company safety standards and environmental programs are adhered to within estimates.
  • Manage the post-estimate / pre-construction efforts until completing an internal hand-over to Operations.
  • Maintain current contacts, and development new contacts, in the construction industry with a view to sourcing new steel erection opportunities in Washington State and other US markets.
  • Be an ambassador of the Company both internally and externally while liaising with Clients, Owners, and Unions.
  • Mentor, coach, and supervise Field Engineers / Engineers In Training, Estimators, and Project Managers.
  • Proactively seek new business opportunities through relationships. KWH is currently looking to expand operations within Washington and Canada, plus new markets in Oregon, California, Alaska, and other parts of the Western United States.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in a combination standard office, field office, construction site, and hybrid / home environment. KWH is willing to work with all employees on a work environment that allows them to excel.
  • Subject to standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping, and lifting of objects up to 55 pounds; may occasionally be exposed to dangerous machinery, extreme weather conditions, physical harm, hazardous chemicals, and extreme noise when conducting site visits.

  • Salary based on experience - $140,000-$160,000 depending on experience and location.
  • 4 weeks of vacation per year, with credit for prior industry experience.

Requirements
  • Exemplary leadership skills, including strong team building capabilities.
  • 10+ years of experience leading estimating construction projects, preferably including structural steel installation, from $1-20MM including developing and setting up estimating templates and process.
  • 10+ years of experience completing the pre-construction function on construction projects including developing and implementing pre-construction principals.
  • Complex Steel Bridge, such as movable, arch, suspension, or cable-stayed, and Industrial construction experience is preferred.
  • Degree in Civil or Construction Engineering would be advantageous but not required.
  • HeavyBid experience is preferred by not required.
  • Experience with Unanet (or another CRM platform), BuildingConnected (or other bid management system), and TradeTapp (or other prequalification system).
  • Smartsheet and Autodesk Construction Cloud Build experience is advantageous.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Structural Steel erection experience is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills for internal and external clients (oral, written, and presentations).
  • Must be eligible to work in the US. Eligibility to work in Canada would be advantageous.

$140,000-$160,000 per year
