Now Hiring – X-Ray Technologist
Location: Various Locations (Avon, Bloomfield, Enfield, Glastonbury, Rocky Hill)
Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the radiologist, provides diagnostic service for patients of all ages undergoing diagnostic studies in the department of radiology. Multi-skilled technologists demonstrate the skill to use two or more radiographic equipment to produce quality images for radiological diagnosis. On-the-job training for those that are x-ray experienced and willing to be cross trained.
- Must accurately interpret a physician’s instructions, routine procedural protocols, prepare and operate the radiographic and mammographic equipment, associated software and equipment and position the patient to capture the appropriate images.
- Document all patient related information in radiology information system in a timely manner based on patient and radiologist workflow.
- Acquire patients' chart data/requisition and reviews both to determine correct room set-up and learn of any specific medical problems, contraindications to the study and verify that the study being ordered correlates to the diagnostic needs.
- Maintain all aspects of the radiographic and mammographic area including technical and clerical components to ensure proper quality assurance results, maintenance of required documentation and keep the area in a state of inspection readiness and compliance.
- If mammography certified: Actively participate and maintain detailed follow up of BIRADS category 0 mammographic records to ensure compliance with MQSA/ACR requirements.
- If MRI certified: Screen patients, employees, and visitors to maintain a magnetically safe environment according to the American College of Radiology standards.
- Educate patients regarding procedure, equipment, and exam to ensure understanding and safety.
- Provide coverage as needed (i.e., in the event of call off or extended patient schedules).
- Provide instruction/mentoring to new hires. Continuously strive to learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation programs.
Requirements
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE QUALIFICATIONS:
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), RT
- Required: Registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (RTR). Connecticut Radiographer License
- Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
