Description
Inter-City Delivery Service is seeking a full-time dependable Class A Truck Driver, who can transport numerous types of freight / cargo / goods safe and accurately over the road.
Job Responsibilities:
- Operate company truck and comply in accordance with FMCSA regulations
- Safely and efficiently operate trucks with GVW over 26,000lbs
- Pull towed weight exceeding 10,000lbs
- Safely and efficiently haul 20, 24, 40, 45, and 53’ containers as directed
- Safely and efficiently haul 24-26, and 53’ trailers as directed
- Accurately perform pre-trip procedures before and after operating assigned truck
- Pickup and deliver freight / cargo / goods to and from assigned destinations
- Ensure all placards accompany all necessary freight / cargo
- Safely and securely tie down cargo loads for transport
- Identify the different shipping documentation (Freight bill, POD, BOL, manifests, Hazmat, etc.)
- Conduct yourself in the safest way possible at all times
- Deliver product to customers in a timely and professional manner
- Maintain accurate hours of service log; document pick-up and delivery in and out times
- Maintain a clean and orderly truck cab and trailer at all times
- Check all paperwork that accompany pickups and deliveries
- Assist in receiving shipments and ensure freight is properly protected / secured
- Report all defects, accidents & violations to management / compliance personnel
- Responds professionally to all customer’s needs and concerns
- Communicate and question any concerns regarding condition of a shipment to dispatch or HFS operations
- Responds promptly and professionally to internal staff and customer needs/concerns in a quick and courteous manner and able to bring unresolved issues to management
- Work together as a team with all departments and offices
- Complete all training courses as assigned
- Comply with all policies, procedures, safety rules and regulations
- Obey all traffics laws and drive according to weather/road conditions
- Complete all other tasks or duties as assigned

Requirements
Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid CDL Class A
- At least two year driving experience
- Clean driving abstract
- Able to lift up to 50-100lbs
- TWIC card required for port access
- Hazmat endorsement not preferred for hire, but must obtain after 6 months of employment
- Basic math, written and oral communications skills
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance required - Must be able to accommodate to changes in scheduling when necessary
- Work overtime as needed
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Proficient with GPS, smart phone, and other routing devices
- Punctual, dependable, and resourceful
- High level of composure and good stress management
- Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements
Physical Requirements:
- Able to sit for long periods of time
- Able to operate electric / manual pallet jacks, cart, hand trucks
- Some push and pulling
- Constant climbing in and out of truck
- Tie/untying cargo as needed
Work Environment:
- Assigned truck cab
- Various weather conditions
- Indoors for driver’s meetings
- In and outdoors for customer pickup/deliveries
- In and outdoors when associating with staff members
Salary Description
$27.00 DOE
