We are currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Legal Assistant to join our team at Joyce University. The Legal Assistant will be reporting directly to Associate Counsel assisting on the administrative and clerical components of various legal matters, state authorization and professional licensing, and contract management.  This is a fully remote position but may require some minimal visits to our Utah Campus.

  • Manage administrative responsibilities specific to the legal office in a university setting.
  • Assist in preparation and submission of required documents to State and Federal authorities for state authorization and professional licensure requirements in multiple jurisdictions. 
  • Establish and maintain recordkeeping systems for all documents, requirements, schedules, and activities relating authorizations and legal matters, including contract management. 
  • Gather and prepare research, such as statutes, decisions, and legal articles, codes and documents as requested, or required.
  • Organize and archive documents related to completed and ongoing university cases, adhering to confidentiality standards, including FERPA.
  • Develop and maintain recordkeeping systems for all documents, requirements, schedules, and activities relating to contracts, authorizations, and legal matters.
  • Assist and/or facilitate partnering with external counsel when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, considering the specific needs and challenges of a Legal Assistant in a university setting.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Required education:  Associates, Paralegal Certificate (Master's degree in business or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience, on a year- for-year basis, required.) 
  • Preferred education:  Bachelor’s or Master’s degree 
  • Required experience:  Familiarity with general legal matters including contract management.  Ability to manage several high priority matters simultaneously.  Ability to learn and use various software for creating and maintaining reports and filings. 
  • Preferred experience:  Higher education experience

Salary Description
$27.00 to $32.00 per hour
