DevOps Engineer
Job Type
Full-time
Description

We are seeking a mid-level DevOps Engineer with strong Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) competencies to design, implement, and operationalize configuration management practices across a complex enterprise network and systems environment. This role is central to establishing authoritative configuration processes, deploying supporting tools, and integrating configuration data into broader service management and reliability workflows. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable designing processes, enabling automation, and collaborating across engineering, operations, security, and service management teams to enhance transparency, control, and service reliability.

Requirements

Configuration Management (ITIL v4 Practice Alignment)

  • Design, implement, and mature the Configuration Management Practice in alignment with ITIL v4, ensuring configuration information is accurate, reliable, and fit for purpose.
  • Define and maintain Configuration Items (CIs) across enterprise network, infrastructure, platform, and application components.
  • Establish relationships and dependencies between CIs to support impact analysis, risk assessment, and service reliability.
  • Lead the creation, validation, and lifecycle management of configuration data, including baselines and version control.
  • Ensure configuration information supports value creation, risk reduction, and improved service outcomes.

Tooling & Automation

  • Select, implement, and integrate configuration management and discovery tools (e.g., CMDB, automated discovery, infrastructure-as-code repositories).
  • Automate configuration data collection, reconciliation, and validation to reduce manual effort and improve data quality.
  • Integrate configuration tooling with monitoring, incident management, change enablement, and asset management systems.
  • Support infrastructure-as-code and declarative configuration approaches where applicable.

Site Reliability & Service Management Integration

  • Partner with SRE, network, and platform teams to ensure configuration data supports reliability engineering, availability targets, and operational resilience.
  • Enable incident resolution and problem analysis by providing accurate configuration and dependency data.
  • Support Change Enablement by ensuring configuration impacts and risks are understood before changes are deployed.
  • Contribute to service continuity and disaster recovery planning through accurate configuration baselines.

Process Design & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop policies, procedures, and work instructions aligned with ITIL v4 guiding principles (e.g., focus on value, progress iteratively, collaborate and promote visibility).
  • Establish metrics and KPIs to measure configuration accuracy, coverage, and effectiveness.
  • Identify opportunities for continual improvement across configuration, reliability, and operational practices.
  • Educate stakeholders on configuration management concepts, responsibilities, and value.

Collaboration & Governance

  • Act as a liaison between engineering, operations, security, architecture, and service management teams.
  • Support audits, compliance efforts, and governance reviews by providing authoritative configuration information.
  • Ensure configuration practices align with organizational risk, security, and compliance requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–6 years of experience in site reliability engineering, systems engineering, network operations, or configuration management roles.
  • Hands-on experience designing or operating configuration management processes or CMDB solutions in an enterprise environment.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL v4, particularly Configuration Management, Change Enablement, Incident Management, and Continual Improvement.
  • Experience with enterprise network and infrastructure environments (on-prem, cloud, or hybrid).
  • Familiarity with automation, scripting, or infrastructure-as-code concepts (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Git-based workflows).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to model dependencies and assess service impact.
