Group Fitness Coordinator

- Part-time, non-seasonal position with no benefits.
- Flexible schedule, approximately 15-20 hours per week, including weekdays, weekends, mornings, evenings, and holidays.
Pay: $16.00 – $16.80 per hour, commensurate with experience.
Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Group Fitness Coordinator to oversee our Group Fitness program, focusing on land-based aerobics classes. This position involves scheduling, staffing, and enhancing our fitness offerings to ensure an engaging and high-quality experience for our community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the Group Fitness program and staff.
- Schedule and staff monthly fitness classes.
- Recruit and, when necessary, terminate employees.
- Introduce new class formats while discontinuing low-performing sessions.
- Maintain regular communication with staff regarding facility and schedule updates via email, GroupMe, and text messaging.
- Facilitate semi-annual group fitness meetings.
- Evaluate staff performance and provide necessary professional development.
- Oversee equipment maintenance in group fitness rooms, reporting issues to the Operations Department.
- Manage and update group fitness social media platforms.
- Monitor class attendance and assist with online scheduling using the Acuity Scheduling platform.
- Maintain no-show records and communicate with patrons as needed.
- Plan and implement special events, pop-up classes, and engagement activities.
- Promote new classes, holiday events, and special programs.
- Maintain both digital and paper employee records.
- Conduct an annual performance evaluation for each group fitness employee.
- Ensure all staff maintain current certifications in group fitness and CPR/First Aid/AED.
Qualifications:
- Must actively teach regular classes within the Group Fitness schedule.
- Current Primary Group Fitness or Personal Trainer Certification from ACE, AFAA, or NASM (other certifications may be accepted with prior approval from the Recreation and Fitness Manager).
- Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification for adults from the American Red Cross.
- Strong understanding of physiology and anatomy, as well as solid aerobic endurance, strength, and flexibility.
- Ability to effectively integrate music and choreography.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
