About the Role


We are seeking a Maternal Mortality Epidemiologist II to support our federal client.  The Maternal Mortality Epidemiologist II will provide epidemiology expertise and support for the agency's surveillance systems on an ongoing basis.


This position is a fully remote role based in Atlanta, GA or anywhere in U.S.


Responsibilities

  • Contributes to maternal mortality data analyses to improve the use of surveillance and program data that advances analytic approaches to understanding characteristics of and prevention opportunities for addressing pregnancy-related deaths
  • Contributes to maternal mortality data analyses to improve understanding of characteristics of and prevention opportunities for addressing pregnancy-related deaths and draft dissemination products (e.g., manuscripts, reports, presentations).
  • Provides technical assistance to state, local and other health agencies on maternal mortality case identification, review, and data use both virtually and through site visits.
  • Uses health equity principles to inform analytic approaches and activities.
  • Participates in project-related meetings and calls.
Requirements


Required Experience and Skills

  • At least 2 years of experience in maternal and child health epidemiology programs at the federal or state level.
  • At least 2 years of direct analytic experience with vital records data, and familiarity with secondary data sources commonly used in states for monitoring maternal health.
  • Highly detail-oriented, works well within a diverse team
  • Possess a high degree of initiative and flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities
  • Works well independently or within a team structure
  • Communicates effectively in a positive and professional manner
  • Prioritizes activities when under tight deadlines.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills applied to communicating with diverse audiences, both scientific and non-scientific
  • Intermediate proficiency in data management and analysis using SAS, R, or SPSS
  • Ability to prioritize activities when under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain government clearance.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.


Education and Training

  • Master’s degree with a concentration in epidemiology, biostatistics, or a closely related discipline.


Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. May need to lift 25 pounds occasionally.
