Personal Injury Litigation Paralegal
Are you an organized, detail-oriented, and experienced personal injury paralegal? You might be an excellent fit for our busy personal injury law firm. You will draft briefs, create legal documents such as affidavits, do legal research for trial preparation, and maintain case files and other critical materials organized and easily accessible. We need someone with experience ordering, reviewing, and summarizing medical materials to produce a factual response to discovery. You will also have expertise in assisting with family settlement discussions and mediation in order to prevent litigation. If you want to further your paralegal career, we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- Proficiency in case management systems, such as SmartAdvocate, is a plus.
- Familiarity with the pre-litigation process in personal injury cases is highly valued.
- Communicate with service providers and insurers to negotiate settlements for liens, bills, and medical expenses.
- Assist attorneys in trial preparation by organizing exhibits, facilitating client meetings, filing motions, conducting legal research, and coordinating witnesses.
- Order, review, and summarize medical records to prepare factual responses for discovery.
- Provide legal representation in family settlement meetings and mediation to resolve disputes without litigation.
- Support attorneys in drafting legal documents, including pleadings, interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, complaints, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits.
- Must have 2-4 years of experience in legal services under an attorney or lawyer, preferably in a personal injury law firm
- ABA-approved paralegal certificate program such as an Associate’s degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies, Bachelor’s degree desired
- Talented verbal communicator and writer
- Candidates should possess high-level organizational skills, and time-management skills
- Completion of a NALA (National Association of Legal Assistants) certification program strongly preferred
