Job Title: Ninja Program Instructor                                          Pay Grade: 2 

FLSA Status: Part Time-Non-Exempt                                       Pay Range : $12.82-$16.02-$19.23 

Reports to: Director of Youth Enrichment and Programs   Revision Date: 3.10.2026 

POSITION SUMMARY:  

Supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Builds members and the community’s understanding of the YMCA’s impact.  

This position instructs and supervises ninja classes, open ninja gyms and rentals in a safe, enjoyable, culturally aware, and positive environment that promotes youth development, social responsibility, and healthy living following YMCA policies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Builds personal and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests. While exemplifying Y’s commitment to the four-character values of caring, honesty, respect & responsibility and responding to all member and community inquiries promptly. 
  2. Leads energizing, fun, culturally aware, safe, classes and open ninjas, as directed by the supervisor, to carry out the YMCA mission and goals.  
  3. Answer questions from members to support them in achieving their healthy living goals. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.  
  4. Provide direct instruction and supervision to ninja participants following the YMCA Best practices, policies, and procedures.   
  5. Convey program information, surveys, and annual campaigns to participants.  
  6. Follow all YMCA emergency and safety procedures.  
  7. Upholds all YMCA policies, procedures, standards, and code of conduct.  
  8. Project a positive, enthusiastic, and professional image on the job.  
  9. Ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with class participants, superiors, and co-workers. 
  10. Fulfills any other functions designated by the YMCA Administration. 
Requirements

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

1. Must at least age of 17 

2. Must have fundamental knowledge and proper use of ninja/gymnastics equipment.  

2. Must be able to implement oral and written instructions. 

3. 1-2 years of experience working with children ages 1-12. 

4. 1-2 years of Ninja, gymnastics or related coaching or teaching experience is preferred. 

5. A Ninja Coaching Certificate is preferred.
