Description
Freeman Boatworks is seeking a skilled Gel Coater to join our growing team. This position plays an important role in building high-quality boats by applying gel coat finishes, maintaining quality standards, and supporting efficient production operations.
What You’ll Do
- Apply gel coat to all boat components in accordance with engineering specifications and work instructions
- Patch and repair parts after gel coating while controlling material usage and minimizing waste
- Maintain quality standards and perform quality checks throughout the process
- Operate a forklift safely and effectively
- Inspect, maintain, and test gel coating equipment as needed
- Use small hand tools, including electric and air-powered tools
- Support production goals while maintaining a clean and organized work area
- Perform other duties as assigned
What You Bring
- Minimum of one (1) year of prior gel coating experience required
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as climbing, kneeling, reaching, bending, and squatting
- Stand and walk for 8+ hours per shift
- Comfortable working in a non-climate-controlled environment
- Tolerance for exposure to heat, cold, dust, fumes, and outdoor elements
- Possible exposure to acetone, resin, fiberglass, putties, glues, and cleaners
