Description

Freeman Boatworks is seeking a skilled Gel Coater to join our growing team. This position plays an important role in building high-quality boats by applying gel coat finishes, maintaining quality standards, and supporting efficient production operations.


What You’ll Do

  • Apply gel coat to all boat components in accordance with engineering specifications and work instructions
  • Patch and repair parts after gel coating while controlling material usage and minimizing waste
  • Maintain quality standards and perform quality checks throughout the process
  • Operate a forklift safely and effectively
  • Inspect, maintain, and test gel coating equipment as needed
  • Use small hand tools, including electric and air-powered tools
  • Support production goals while maintaining a clean and organized work area
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What You Bring

  • Minimum of one (1) year of prior gel coating experience required
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as climbing, kneeling, reaching, bending, and squatting
  • Stand and walk for 8+ hours per shift
  • Comfortable working in a non-climate-controlled environment
  • Tolerance for exposure to heat, cold, dust, fumes, and outdoor elements
  • Possible exposure to acetone, resin, fiberglass, putties, glues, and cleaners
