Description

The Agronomy Research Intern will assist the Research Agronomist and the Legacy Alfalfa Team at the Legacy Seeds - Research & Learning Center in Waupaca, WI. The candidate will be exposed to every aspect in operating and maintaining a research farm focused on corn, soybean, and alfalfa production. The candidate will assist the alfalfa team with a variety of tasks associated with developing new and improved alfalfa varieties. This is a paid internship of $15 to $20 per hour.


Duties and responsibilities

  • Assist in organizing, establishing, maintaining, and evaluating field research plots across WI
  • Ride along with Research Agronomist to provide customer support on product performance throughout the state
  • Aid in planning and hosting plot tours at the Research & Learning Center and throughout the state
  • Compile observation data using Microsoft 365 programs
  • Assist in upkeep of the Research & Learning Center building and grounds.
  • Safely operate equipment and tools


Requirements
  • Pursuing an associate’s or bachelor’s degree, preferably in agronomy, agricultural business, or related field of study
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and maintain a safe driving record
  • Able to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Able to work in warehouse conditions with limited heating and cooling
  • Flexible hours and/or extended hours may be required
  • Strong communication, leadership, and time-management skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to work without supervision
  • Give and receive feedback to collaborate with others


Salary Description
$15 - $20
