    The Direct Support Professional is responsible for providing warm and welcoming services designed to meet client needs based on individual assessments while fostering an environment of dignity and respect. This is an active hands-on role.
    Essential Functions
  • Provide direct guest support:
  • Complete intake on new guests; explain agency rules and policies;
  • Perform daily check-in of guests in; provide linens and assist with bag and tag process;
  • Attend to guest needs, answer questions, resolve problems and escalate to site management when necessary;
  • Monitor bed occupancy to ensure maximum usage;
  • Conduct daily/random walk-throughs of facility ensuring conditions are safe and guests are adhering to shelter policies and procedures;
  • Provide guests with information and referrals; document the interaction(s) in log book;
  • Uphold Magdala House policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the efficient operation of the Shelter:
  • Answer and direct incoming calls, provide information; monitor security gate access, if applicable;
  • Communicate and collaborate with other Magdala House departments and employees;
  • Maintain complete and organized files;
  • Assist in the receipt and distribution of donations;
  • Maintain adequate and organized stock of office and cleaning supplies and hygiene items; distribute hygiene items to guests as needed;
  • Prepare Incident Reports and other reports;
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area; wipe down counters, cots, common surfaces and chairs on every shift;
  • Perform other duties as required.

Physical Activities and Working Conditions

  • Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, moving from one work space to another;
  • Ability to lift, carry, push or pull objects up to 20 pounds unassisted;
  • Manual dexterity in order to use keyboard and mouse;
  • Close visual acuity to prepare and analyze reports and data.
  • Experience working with the homeless or impoverished

Requirements

 

Associates Degree or Higher - Compensation - $20.00 per hour

Non Degree - High School Diploma / GED /Equivalent - Compensation - $18.00 per hour

Full coverage auto insurance

Class E Driver's License - Company will reimburse cost where necessary.
