Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Part-Time Dance/Cheer Instructor to join our afterschool mentoring program. The ideal candidate will inspire and empower students in grades 2 through 5 through dance and cheer instruction, fostering creativity, teamwork, and self-confidence. This role combines technical skill-building with mentorship to create a fun and inclusive environment where students can grow both on and off the floor.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and lead engaging dance and cheer classes tailored to the developmental levels of 2nd-5th grade students.
- Teach fundamental techniques, choreography, and routines in dance and cheerleading.
- Create an encouraging and inclusive atmosphere that builds students' confidence and teamwork skills.
- Develop and implement performance opportunities, such as showcases or events, to highlight students’ progress.
- Collaborate with the mentoring team to integrate life skills and character-building into sessions.
- Monitor and assess student participation, ensuring individual growth and program engagement.
- Maintain a safe and supportive environment, adhering to organizational policies and guidelines.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Proven experience in dance, cheerleading, or related disciplines (performance or instruction).
- Previous experience working with children, particularly in grades 2-5, is strongly preferred.
- Ability to develop age-appropriate lesson plans and adapt instruction to varying skill levels.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong Classroom management skills or experience
- Enthusiasm for mentoring and inspiring youth in a structured, afterschool setting.
- CPR/First Aid certification is a plus but not required.
Salary Description
$14.12 - 15.37 per hour
