**Lifeguard Certification is required; however, we offer lifeguard certification courses, and reach out to students in the course about potential job opportunities when available. Candidates must successfully complete and pass the lifeguarding course prior to being hired for the position. Job Duties:
- Maintains active surveillance of the pool area and ensures a safe environment for all members and staff.
- Knows and reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies, including delivering life saving care.
- Remains calm and objective when under pressure or when challenged by others.
- Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.
- Check the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving and reports to the right personnel when appropriate
- Performs chemical testing when not guarding, as required, and takes appropriate action.
- Attends staff trainings/meetings and maintain active certifications related to the position.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must hold active Lifeguard Certification and able to present said certification before being hired
- Must be at least 16 years old
- Must have the following certifications: basic Life Support or professional rescuer CPR/AED, first aid and emergency oxygen administration at hiring or within 30 days of hire date
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 per hour. Plus, access to YMCA facilities (gym, pool ect.) for all YMCA employees, Employee Assistance Program, and Sick Leave.
Schedule: Shifts available from Sundays to Saturdays, between the hours of 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and early bird shifts from 5:45 am to 9:00 am.
