Project Surveyor
Description

Giffels Webster has an exciting opportunity for a Project Surveyor to join our Detroit, Michigan team. As a Project Surveyor, you will service clients in a variety of project needs in and around Metro Detroit. Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 0-2 years' experience and a bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying or Geospatial Engineering.

Our Project Surveyors help shape our world by making sense of data that aids in the development and construction of projects. They provide accurate measurements of property boundaries, dimensions and locations of land features and elevations on the earth's surface. Our Project Surveyors have the opportunity to work with new technology such as laser scanning and drone mapping. They work closely with engineers and are able to provide locations of features and contours to aid in the construction of roads, bridges, buildings and underground utilities. Project Surveyors have a great responsibility and opportunity to record and be a part of history. Preparing site surveys and boundary documents is the crucial first step in the design phase. Project Surveyors also play a crucial role after project design is complete by staking the site, preparing easement documents, ALTA Surveys and gathering as-built information after construction.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Prepare topographic surveys, easement documents, parcel reconfiguration documents and record drawings.
  • Interpret engineering sketches, maps and field notes.
  • Assemble record project data including benchmarks, utility information, corner ties, title work, previous surveys and obtain utility information from facility owners.
  • Import data from field crews.
  • Check field notes and cut sheets for accuracy and submit to design engineer for verification. Ensure they are delivered to the job site on time.
  • Upload UAV and GPS data.
