Position Summary

In this role, the Project Engineer will assist in:

· completing assessment of roadways and drainage structures

· development of design plans for projects of varying complexity, ranging from pavement overlays to roundabout design

· complete construction inspection of road and bridge projects

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assessment & Project Design – under supervision of a Project Manager (Professional Engineer):

· Coordinate with clients to determine project needs

· Complete on site investigation of roadway assets and develop recommendations for improvements 

· Develop design plans for roadway projects using AutoCAD and MicroStation

· Assist in the preparation of quantities and cost estimates

· Complete quality control reviews of construction plans, design calculations and other contract documents 

· Coordinate with contractors, utility companies and other stakeholders to discuss plans, specifications, and schedules 

· Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects 

Requirements

  

Education and Experience

  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply civil engineering fundaments to real-world      projects
  • Ability to learn and interpret INDOT Design Manual and Standard Specifications 
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university

Licenses, Certifications: 

· If an employee plans to use their own vehicle in the scope of their employment with Shrewsberry, they will be required to provide proof of insurance and a drivers license

Preferred Experience

  • Ability to become licensed Professional Engineer within 4 years
  • 2+ years of experience in the inspection of civil heavy highway projects
  • Experience working on design of INDOT or Federally Funded LPA projects
