SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Food Service Representative plays a key role in ensuring the quality, safety, and efficiency of food preparation and service at Elmo’s and Higher Grounds. This position is responsible for preparing food products, maintaining cleanliness and safety standards, and providing excellent customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Mission & Values
Promote and uphold the company’s mission, vision, and values in all interactions and activities to foster a positive and cohesive organizational culture.
2. Customer Service
Provide friendly and efficient service to customers, handling transactions, issuing receipts, and answering inquiries with professionalism. Target minimum average score of 90% on Secret Shops.
3. Store Conditions
Maintain store safety, cleanliness, and appearance; achieving company targets on Loss Prevention, Safety, and Store Inspections.
4. Shift Duties
Perform shift-related duties as assigned, including opening and closing tasks, preparation for peak hours, and assisting with special promotions.
5. Food Preparation & Quality Control
Ensure all food items are prepared and presented according to company guidelines, including proper portioning, labeling, and rotation following FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles.
6. Food Safety & Sanitation
Follow all food safety procedures, including proper storage, temperature monitoring, and handling of food products to ensure compliance with health regulations.
7. Inventory Management
Read and follow charts to determine necessary food preparation amounts per shift and assist in monitoring inventory levels, restocking as needed.
8. Cash Handling & Register Operations
Operate the register accurately, process transactions, and reconcile cash drawer totals at the end of each shift.
9. Age-Restricted Product Compliance
While working on the register, ensure the responsible and legal sale of age-restricted products, including tobacco and alcohol, in compliance with all applicable laws and company policies.
10. Loss Prevention
Follow company procedures to minimize waste, control costs, and prevent theft or loss.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma, high school equivalency (HSE), or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS

2. Ability to write routine reports and communications
3. Ability to communicate effectively to customers, business partners, and team members of the organization
