Equipment Manager

International Drilling Equipment is seeking an Equipment Manager to join our team.


In this job, you will be responsible for managing the inventory, readiness, and overall lifecycle of the company’s lease and sales equipment. This role ensures that all equipment is properly maintained, configured, and available for customers while optimizing fleet utilization and cost efficiency. The Equipment Manager will work closely with the sales, lease, and service teams to align inventory with business needs and prevent unnecessary stock duplication.

Primary job responsibilities


Equipment Inventory & Fleet Management

  • Maintain an accurate inventory of all lease and sales equipment, tracking status, locations, availability, and configurations.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly documented and updated in the ERP system.
  • Monitor utilization rates and recommend the purchase, sale, or retirement of equipment based on demand and performance data.

Equipment Readiness & Maintenance

  • Coordinate with the Service Department to ensure all lease and sales machines are inspected, serviced, and meet operational and cosmetic standards before deployment.
  • Track maintenance schedules and oversee pre-rental and post-rental inspections to maintain quality standards.
  • Ensure proper documentation of equipment maintenance, repairs, and modifications.

Purchasing & Configuration Management

  • Work to create recommended orders for equipment purchases and attachments.
  • Standardize equipment configurations to prevent duplicate stock and unnecessary variations.
  • Ensure new equipment is received, properly configured, and ready for deployment.

Logistics & Coordination

  • Oversee the movement of equipment between branches.
  • Communicate with branch managers to ensure each location has the right mix of equipment based on regional demand.
  • Assist in developing transportation strategies that optimize costs and efficiency.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Generate reports on fleet utilization, maintenance costs, and equipment availability to support business decisions.
  • Analyze trends in leases and sales to identify gaps and opportunities for equipment investment.
  • Provide insights into residual values and recommend when to rotate or sell equipment.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in equipment management, fleet operations, or lease coordination, preferably in the heavy equipment or construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy equipment types, attachments, and maintenance requirements.
  • Experience with ERP systems and inventory tracking software.
  • Ability to analyze data and make strategic decisions regarding fleet optimization.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to travel for site visits and equipment inspections.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience working with OEMs and vendors for equipment procurement.
  • Background in service management or maintenance planning.
  • Familiarity with telematics systems for tracking equipment location and usage.

Work Hours and Environment:

  • Working hours are M-F 9am to 5:30pm 
  • Work Environment is an office that is air-conditioned/heated according to the season
  • This position reports to the Rural Hall, NC location
