Description
We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and dedicated Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our busy pediatric practice. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and families in a fast-paced clinical setting and will provide high-quality, patient-centered care.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Prepare exam rooms and assist physicians during patient visits.
- Obtain and document patient vitals (height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, etc.).
- Record patient history, chief complaints, and allergies in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Administer vaccines, medications, and perform point-of-care tests (e.g., rapid strep, flu, RSV, urine tests) following practice protocols.
- Conduct vision and hearing screenings as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate immunization records and assist with vaccine inventory management.
- Perform routine specimen collection (throat swabs, urine, etc.) and ensure proper labeling and handling.
- Provide age-appropriate patient education and anticipatory guidance under physician direction.
- Ensure exam rooms are cleaned and restocked between patients.
Administrative Duties:
- Greet patients and families, ensuring a friendly and welcoming environment.
- Schedule appointments, manage referrals, and handle prior authorizations as needed.
- Answer phone calls and respond to patient inquiries in coordination with clinical staff.
- Assist with EHR documentation and ensure medical records are up-to-date.
- Verify insurance information and assist with patient billing questions when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Certification: Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through an accredited program (AAMA, NHA, or equivalent).
- Experience: Prior experience in pediatrics preferred but not required.
- Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially with children and families.
- Proficiency in using Electronic Health Records (EHR).
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Other Requirements:
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
