Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
· Able to successfully manage all aspects of the Lab functions.
· Able to successfully draw blood adhering to Universal Precautions for Bloodborne Pathogens.
· Maintains OSHA compliance.
· Spin and package blood samples to be sent to LabCorp, Quest and specialty labs as indicated. This is done twice daily for LabCorp and once for all other labs.
· Ability to navigate EHR, retrieve orders, print and process lab requisitions to appropriate lab.
· Able to successfully complete daily tasks associated with CBC and Sed Rate machines. Including but not limited to, running daily QC’s, analyzing samples, performing any as needed maintenance and powering on and off the machine.
· Ability to successfully navigate LabDaq computer for such tasks as printing requisitions, printing pending reports and reconciling patient results.
· Box and prepare sharp containers for pick up by our vendor.
· Displays adequate patient care skills and judgement.
· Works well within the team. Works under the direction of the Lab Supervisor and Lead Phlebotomist.
· Able to exercise sound judgement and discretion handling confidential information.
· Able to maintain professional behavior in potentially stressful situations.
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
Preferred Education and Experience
Associates degree and one (1) year of relevant experience preferred.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Completed Phlebotomy course with certification desired.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of Medical Practice software, Windows, and Word Processing software.
