About the Role
Peritia is seeking a high-performing Director of Business Development to drive growth across our core service lines, partnering with life sciences organizations to solve complex clinical, regulatory, and commercial challenges. This is a senior, quota-carrying role focused on originating and expanding client relationships across the full breadth of Peritia’s offerings, excluding Value and Evidence.
This individual will operate as a strategic seller and trusted advisor, engaging with biotech, pharmaceutical, and medical device clients to understand their development and commercialization priorities and position integrated solutions across consulting, functional services, and resourcing. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of the drug development lifecycle and can translate client needs into tailored, high-impact engagements.
Scope of the Role
- Title: Director of Business Development
- Reports to: Sales Leadership
- Territory: East Coast (U.S.)
- Environment: Complex, consultative B2B services sales with multi-stakeholder buying groups across Clinical Development, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, Commercial, and Operations
Key Responsibilities
- Own and grow a robust pipeline of opportunities, driving deals from early-stage identification through close with urgency and discipline.
- Develop and execute territory and account strategies to generate new business while expanding existing client relationships.
- Lead consultative sales engagements by diagnosing client needs and positioning Peritia’s capabilities across:
- Clinical development support and operations
- Regulatory strategy and submission support
- Medical affairs and scientific communications
- Commercial and market access readiness (non-HEOR)
- Functional services, resourcing, and project-based delivery models
- Build and maintain senior-level relationships across key stakeholders, including Clinical, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, and Commercial leadership.
- Develop a deep understanding of client pipelines, therapeutic areas, and organizational priorities to proactively identify opportunities.
- Collaborate internally with delivery, resourcing, and leadership teams to shape proposals and ensure alignment with client needs.
- Serve as the voice of the client within Peritia, ensuring expectations, timelines, and engagement scope are clearly communicated and executed.
- Represent Peritia at industry events and conferences, building market visibility and generating qualified opportunities.
- Stay current on industry trends, including clinical development innovation, regulatory shifts, and evolving service delivery models.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in life sciences services sales, including consulting, functional services, staffing, or CRO environments.
- Demonstrated ability to sell across multiple service lines and engage in complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles.
- Strong understanding of the drug development lifecycle, from early clinical through commercialization.
- Proven track record of building and growing a book of business, including net-new logo acquisition and account expansion.
- Experience working with both emerging biotech and large pharmaceutical organizations.
- Exceptional relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to engage senior executives.
- Self-directed, results-oriented mindset with the ability to manage a territory and consistently deliver against targets.
- Bachelor’s degree required.

Location & Travel Remote (East Coast). Travel required for client meetings, industry conferences, and internal collaboration.
