Job Summary
The Outboard Foreman plays a key role in the service department’s customer satisfaction. You'll oversee daily operations, lead a team of technicians, and ensure an efficient and profitable service department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in marine engine repair, excellent organizational skills, and proven leadership ability. Responsibilities
- Leadership: Guide and support technicians, ensuring work is performed with high standards. Train and mentor junior staff. Assist in any position to meet team goals. Communicate with customers regarding service needs, timelines, and estimates.
- Repairs: Maintain marine outboard and inboard motors. Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues with all equipment. Install new outboard engines with controls and accessories.
- Product Lines: Master in various outboard engines such as Mercury, Honda, Suzuki, and Yamaha. Work with mechanical systems and basic 12 and 24-volt circuits.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to manufacturing safety standards and maintain a clean work environment.
- Other: Willing to educate themselves on OEM training/requirements. All duties as assigned.
- Experience: Minimum five (5) years of experience in sterndrive and outboard repair, maintenance, and electrical diagnosis.
- Certifications: Must hold a valid driver's license. Engine-specific certifications highly preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
Qualifications
- Excellent customer service attitude and skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ownership of all basic tools necessary for service work.
- Capability of sea-trialing and docking boats at the location.
- Master Certification.
- OEM outboard certification is a plus.
- Ability to manage time, budgets, and personnel effectively.
- Strong knowledge of diagnostic tools and marine engine systems.
- Boating license or experience is a plus.
