Key Responsibilities

Financial Close & Reporting

  • Own and manage the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely completion of P&L, Balance Sheet, and Statement of Cash Flows.
  • Oversee and review the work of the offshore accounting team, including all close-related activity, accounts payable, and payroll calculation.
  • Partner with the Financial Analyst to resolve variances and enhance accuracy in actuals.
  • Present monthly financials to the Director of Finance & Accounting following thorough internal review.
  • Serve as the technical accounting lead on new initiatives, consulting with the Director of Finance & Accounting as needed.
  • Own the preparation and execution of annual financial statement audits.

Accounts Payable 

  • Manage the end-to-end accounts payable process, including offshore team oversight.
  • Design and maintain a payment process aligned with budget and approval workflows.
  • Serve as the main vendor contact; ensure timely responses and maintain professional communication.
  • Proactively negotiate vendor terms to optimize cash flow and cost efficiency.

Inventory Accounting & Controls

  • Own and improve all inventory accounting processes and systems, ensuring valuation accuracy and system integrity.
  • Enforce timely counting and reconciliation processes across all inventory streams.
  • Coordinate with internal and external partners (e.g., 3PLs, manufacturers) to uphold inventory standards.
  • Reconcile all inventory streams on a timely basis and coordinate recounts as needed.
  • Report inventory performance to leadership and collaborate with Operations to resolve gaps.
  • Work closely with other HQ teams to ensure proper documentation and accountability across departments.

Payroll Oversight

  • Manage the Payroll Coordinator and provide direct oversight of payroll processes, acting as a backup when needed.
  • Serve as the main point of escalation for all payroll-related inquiries.
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting and timely tax filings for all payroll data.
  • Oversee payroll setup, taxability questions, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with the HR team to ensure accurate records in the HRIS and proper reconciliation of all benefit-related payables.

Tax Compliance

  • Manage all recurring tax filings and payments.
  • Act as the primary liaison with external tax accountants for franchise tax returns and associated filings.

Accounts Receivable

  • Partner with the other HQ teams to ensure timely collection of customer receivables.
  • Manage collection of rebates and credits from vendors and other partners.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Collaboration

  • Act as the key point of contact for all accounting-related matters with HQ teams and location leaders, including AP, inventory, payroll, AR, and tax.
  • Maintain strong cross-functional communication to support business alignment, operational execution, and financial discipline.

Requirements

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA preferred (or demonstrated strong GAAP expertise)
  • Background in inventory accounting and controls
  • Proven ability to lead small to mid-sized accounting teams
  • Prior experience managing offshore accounting teams is preferred
  • Experience overseeing payroll operations, including compliance, tax filings, and reconciliation preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics (or similar ERP systems) is a plus
