Description

We are seeking a skilled and versatile Heavy Equipment / Truck Mechanic to oversee the preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of our diverse fleet. In this role, you will be the go-to expert keeping our yellow iron, compact equipment, and medium-to-heavy-duty support trucks operating safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable diagnostic-testing a modern track loader or turning wrenches on legacy fleet assets. You will work out of a well-equipped shop space and truck access.  CDL Preferred, but not required.

Requirements


Equipment & Fleet Maintenance

  • Diagnostic & Repair: Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine systems across our entire fleet.
  • Preventative Maintenance (PM): Execute routine PM services (oil changes, fluid analyses, filter replacements, track/tire inspections) to minimize field downtime.
  • Welding & Fabrication: Perform minor welding and structural repairs on buckets, beds, and attachments as needed.
  • Documentation: Maintain clear, accurate service logs and inspection reports for compliance and tracking.

Specialized Fleet Focus

  • Compact & Heavy Dirt Iron: Maintain and repair compact excavators, skid steers, track loaders, full-sized excavators, wheel loaders, and backhoes.
  • Medium & Heavy-Duty Trucks: Service class 4 through 7 commercial work trucks, focusing on diesel powertrains, air brakes, and electrical systems.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

Technical & Experience Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of proven experience working as a heavy equipment mechanic, diesel technician, or fleet mechanic.
  • Brand-Specific Familiarity: Direct hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing the following assets is highly desirable:  
    • Compact Gear: Bobcat & Kubota (Skid steers, track loaders, mini-excavators)
    • Heavy Equipment: Case (Excavators, wheel loaders, backhoes)
    • Truck Fleet: Peterbilt 337, Ford F-450, and Ford F-550 Super Duty platforms
  • Legacy Assets: Familiarity and comfort working on older, legacy fleet models with mechanical engines and simpler electrical systems (preferred).
  • Tools: Must possess a comprehensive set of personal hand tools and basic air/power tools appropriate for heavy equipment repair.

Certifications & Skills

  • License: Valid Driver’s License required. A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL Class A or B) is a major plus.
  • Hydraulics & Electrical: Strong proficiency reading hydraulic flow charts and electrical schematics.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work in tight spaces, climb onto heavy machinery, and work comfortably in varying outdoor weather conditions.
